Geddy Lee Talks Big Beautiful Book of Bass With Q

Geddy Lee recently sat down with Tom Power of Q to discuss the Big Beautiful Book of Bass and his new obsession with the history of Bass Guitar. On why he first got into collecting: “Later in my life, when I got turned onto the idea of vintage instruments and I acquired the first one in 2012 or 2013, a light bulb went on and I felt ignorant of the instrument that I had held in my hands for over 40 years. It’s like, why don’t I know about the development of this? Why don’t I know about the golden age of those instruments? So I started getting curious.” Via CBC. Watch

Geddy Lee – BBBOB Billboard Interview

Billboard sat down with Geddy Lee to discuss his new book release Big Beautiful Book of Bass.  Geddy states in the interview: “I realized there wasn’t a sort of definitive book about the bass guitar…I felt the bass guitar was not only under-represented in terms of books, but the beauty of some of these instruments has never been properly captured. So that’s when the idea of the book sort of came to me…as not only a rationalizing for why I collect all these basses but also perhaps a useful reference book for people looking to find a particular bass.” Read the full interview here.

Geddy Lee on his “Big Beautiful Book of Bass” – Rolling Stone

In this new Rolling Stone Interview, Geddy Lee speaks about his brand new book release “Big Beautiful Book of Bass”.  On putting the book together Geddy says: “It was really interesting for me, having never done a book before. It’s one thing to sit down with a writer and a typewriter and work on a novel based on things that are living in your head. That’s a very intimate exchange between pen and paper. But to do a coffee-table book based on so many photographs and a historical timeline, it’s more like making a documentary. It’s a lot of pieces that are constantly dependent upon each other but also constantly

Rolling Stone Magazine Review: Hemispheres Box Set

On November 16th, 2018 Rolling Stone Magazine published a 4.5 out of 5 star review of the Hemispheres 40th Anniversary Box set, titled Rush’s ‘Hemispheres’ Reissue Celebrates Band’s Prog-Rock Era Peak. From the review:  “Part of Hemispheres‘ greatness lies in its consistency; there’s no drop-off whatsoever once the title opus ends. “Circumstances” compresses the band’s trademark anthemic prog into a dazzlingly dense four minutes; “The Trees” tells a fable-like story of intolerance, with an environmentalist twist; and “La Villa Strangiato,” an episodic instrumental inspired by Lifeson’s dreams, puts the band’s legendary chops and rhythmic daredevilry on glorious display.” Read the full review here.
